Clients can contact Bishop Veterinary Hospital or Mountain View Animal hospital directly. Your pet's health consultation and surgical procedures can be scheduled directly with Dr Joel Figueroa.

Client Direct Consultations:
Telemedicine consultation appointments with pet owners are available to discuss case specifics and surgical planning and treatment options. If deemed necessary, surgery may be arranged at your local veterinary hospital.

For Veterinary Professionals:
For emergency and general cases you see at your clinic, I offer direct case consultations. We will discuss surgical plan options and procedure scheduling at your hospital versus referral to out of area specialty hospitals. Extremely complex cases may still need referral.

Fracture Repair and Trauma Surgery
Internal Fracture Fixation and Trauma Reconstruction
Accidents happen and unfortunately bones break or joints are damaged. I provide consultations on trauma cases and fracture repair.
I employ internal fixation methods including bone plates and interlocking nails where appropriate in combination with other common internal fixation methods (screws, wires, IM pins).
I have been working to bring tendon and ligament repair to traumatic cases where these structures have been compromised.
I utilize high quality titanium implants for all internal fracture fixation cases from a reputable veterinary surgical implant company.

My ultimate goal is to appropriately advise and perform fracture fixation repairs to ensure a great outcome and avoid amputations if possible.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Laproscopic Procedures
Minimally invasive procedures utilize Laproscopic technology for procedures such as spay (ovariectomy) prophylactic gastropexy, cryptorchid neuter, biopsy (intestinal, liver), and exploratory abdominal procedures. They can include removal of the spleen/gallbladder, cystotomy, cystoscopy, etc.

While more expensive, minimally invasive techniques result in less time under anesthesia, decreased blood loss, quicker recovery time, and a lot less pain for your pet.

About GREY GHOST VETERINARY SERVICES
Grey Ghost Veterinary Services was started by me, Dr. Joel Figueroa, in an effort to provide advanced orthopedic procedures in Bishop California and has expanded from there. Grey Ghost Veterinary Services is dedicated to providing exceptional surgical and medical consultation services for pets. I will help you make honest decisions about your pet family members' health and needs. With a focus on trauma, advanced orthopedic procedures and soft tissue surgery, I aim to offer affordable and high-quality care to pet owners while continuously developing surgical expertise, all while remaining close to home in the Eastern Sierra.

I have been practicing as a general practitioner at Bishop Veterinary Hospital since graduating from UC Davis Veterinary School in 2017. I have always maintained strong interests in mechanisms of disease and anatomic pathology and I naturally gravitated towards advanced surgical procedures. I have sought out specialty training and mentorship by attending teaching seminars and labs, in order to develop expertise in orthopedics, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery, as well as general medicine. I am committed to expert surgical technique in advanced procedures. I have developed a network for both professional training and consultation in order to best advise pet owners in decisions regarding pet health care. I only take cases where we as a team are comfortable together or I will help you find the best option for your pet.

My wife and I live in Bishop, Ca. with our family of two Weimaraners (the real "Grey Ghosts") Stanley and Lennard, and our tortoise, Guinevere. We are committed to helping the local Bishop and surrounding communities receive the high quality health care that all family members deserve. In my free time, I enjoy the trails by foot and on mountain bikes with my family and long distance running.
